Who is happy here
Riviera del Sol suits you if you want peace, space, a terrace and a shared pool — and do not mind driving to shop. The area is built around urbanisations rather than streets, which gives quieter living but also an entirely different everyday life from inside Fuengirola.
It is one of the areas where Swedes and Norwegians have bought for a long time, and it shows: you find neighbours who have walked the same road as you and are glad to tell you what they wish they had checked before they signed.
Types of property
- Townhouses — the area’s hallmark. Often on two floors with a terrace or small garden of their own, in a community with a pool.
- Apartments — common in low-rise complexes with a shared pool and garden.
- Villas — found higher up the slope with views.
What to check here in particular
- The position on the slope. A view costs, but so does the hill. Walk the route to the car and to the pool before you decide.
- The condition and finances of the community. Pool, lift, tarmac and lighting are shared costs. Read the minutes, not just the fee.
- Letting rules. If you intend to let at times — check both the community’s statutes and the regional tourist-letting legislation before buying.
- Built area against registered area. Glazed terraces and extensions are not always registered.
