Who is happy here
Benalmádena lies closer to Málaga than Fuengirola does, and it shows: the airport and the city are easily reached by train. For those who commute, get a lot of visitors or want to be able to get to Málaga on a Tuesday evening, it is a real advantage.
Scandinavian life on the coast, however, has its centre of gravity in Fuengirola. If you have children who will attend the Swedish School, it means a drive or a train every morning — read the page on the school run before you decide.
What to check here in particular
- Which of the three areas the listing actually concerns. “Benalmádena” says almost nothing about what your life will be like.
- The hills. Pueblo and parts of Costa are steep. Walk the route to the car and to the shop before you decide.
- Tourist pressure in summer near the marina and the beach.
- The age of the building and the community’s finances — much of the stock is from the seventies and eighties.
