Who is happy here
La Cala suits you if you want the sea and a real village centre, but not the city. You can live without a car if you live near the centre, and unlike many urbanisations along the coast, half the place does not stand empty between October and March.
The location midway between Fuengirola and Marbella is its strength and its price: you have both within reach, but you depend on a car for everything that is not in the village.
Types of property
- Apartments in the village — walking distance to beach and square. The most sought-after and the quickest to sell.
- Townhouses and apartments in the surrounding urbanisations — more space and pool for the money, but a car is required.
- Villas on the slopes — views, privacy and a clearly higher price level.
- Golf-side homes — La Cala Golf lies inland, a separate area with a different character from the village.
What to check here in particular
- How close to the village you actually are. “La Cala” is used in listings for properties a ten-minute drive up the hill. The difference in everyday life is enormous.
- Noise in summer if you are looking near the square or the promenade.
- The community’s finances and approved works — read the minutes, not just the monthly fee.
- Parking. In the village centre spaces are scarce and garages cost.
On prices: we put no prices per square metre on a web page — they move, and the difference between the village and the surrounding urbanisations is too large for an average to mean anything. We produce current statistics for the specific location you are looking at. Ask for them.
